He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Richard and Robin R. Heppner; and his brother Peter. He is survived by: his wife Norma; his stepchildren, Jaime and Raquel; and his siblings, Candace (Steven), Julie, Matthew (Erin Marie), Charles (Elissa), Christopher (Diana), David (Lynette) and Erin (Bruce). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their children.
