She was predeceased by: her parents, Shafter Tinsley and Fannie Thompson Tinsley; her husband Matthew "Pete" McCowan; her daughter Meredith; and her siblings, Alfred Thompson, Hazel Juanita Tinsley Clark (John Clark), Roselle Tinsley (Barbara Tinsley) and Richard Tinsley (Peggy).
She is survived by: her daughters, Priscilla McCowan, Carla McCowan-Alston (Reginald) and Mavis McCowan; her grandsons, David Alston and Daniel Alston; her aunts, Joy Ella Boulware and Opal Tinsley; and her sister-in-law Peggy Tinsley. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
