He is survived by: his children, John Mattingly II (Andria) of Stanford, Frank Mattingly II (Brooke) of Harrodsburg and Edith Rose Mattingly of Danville; his grandchildren, John Andrew Mattingly, Summer Denney, Hadley, Mia Mattingly, Kaleigh, Jackson Bourne, Gabriel, Jason, Jayden and Xavier Clarkston; and his siblings, Alex Mattingly (Betty) of Lexington, Bernard Mattingly (Barbara) of Cookeville, TN, Glenn Mattingly (Paula) of Springfield, Martin Mattingly (Laura) of Frankfort and Ardela Smith (Bobby) of Florence.
