He was predeceased by: his wife Susan Miller Stephens; his parents, Russell Stephens and Marie Stephens; and his brother Daniel Stephens. He is survived by: his sister Susan Lemons (Greg); his children, Drane Stephens (Lisa), Patton Stephens (Raj Chawla), Scott Stephens (Laura) and Bess Beyer (Jason); his grandchildren, Mac, Faith, Gabe, Taylor, Morgan, Grant, Leena, Keva, Rebecca, Miller, Jimmy of Josie, CJ, Ashton and Lydia; and his great grandchild Wren.
