He was predeceased by: his spouse Gussie Stakelin Fryman; and his siblings, Richard S., James Kirtley "Kirt" Fryman, Bettie Katherine and Jessie May Fryman.
He is survived by: his children, Howard W. Fryman, Jr., Richard Daniel Fryman (Amy), Malinda J. Fryman and Kathryn Ewalt (Robert); and his grandchildren, Joseph William Fryman, Chase Fryman, Beau Moore, Julie Ellen Fryman, Kaitlyn Ewalt, Brad Ewalt and Zach Ewalt. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
