She was predeceased by: her parents, Tolbert Dowdy and Cordie Dowdy; her husband Francis Garrett; her daughters, Barbara Jean Goldsmith and Linda Lemons; her siblings, Dorothy Newton, Nellie Dowdy, Myrline Dodson, Paul Dowdy and Clendon Dowdy; and her children-in-law, Ronnie Sutton and Amy Adams.
She is survived by: her children, Sue Sutton of Thaxton, Donna Laird (Russ) of Bardwell, David Garrett (Cindy) of Cunningham, Don Garrett of Cunningham and Kevin Garrett (Cindy Thompson-Garrett) of Cunningham; and her sister Mary Jo Sumner of Wingate. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
