W.) of Norton, VA; his stepmother Pauline Bates; his siblings, Jay Bates of Whitesburg, KY, Kathy Mullins of Whitesburg, KY, Joe Bates of Whitesburg, KY and Euna Faye Caudill of Lafollette, TN; and his nieces, Jill Shoffner and Rebecca Large.
