He was predeceased by: his sister Vickie Sue Childress. He is survived by: his wife Malinda Shewmaker Childress; his sons, Matthew Childress (Natasha) of Cub Run, Jeremy Childress (Billie Jean Blair) of Cub Run, Jared Childress of Cub Run and Marcus Childress of Cub Run; his grandchildren, Kaelynn Childress, Lauren Childress and Brian Childress; his mother Darlene Childress; and his siblings, Mike Childress Bobby Childress (Boneda), Vanessa Burd (Bob) of Glasgow, Malinda Carroll (Gary) of Cub Run and Angela Rosser of Cub Run. He is also survived by many friends, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
