He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Childress and Linda Pierce Childress; his wife Thelma Jean Williams Childress; his son Randy Childress; and his siblings, Pauline Sanders, Rosie Harrison, Valaria Jeffries, Georgie, Wade, Howard and Owen Childress.
He is survived by: his children, Pauletta Sanders (Nelson) of Mammoth Cave, Ronnie Childress (Sally) of Cub Run and Mark Childress of Cub Run; his daughter-in-law Joni Childress of Louisville; and his siblings, Floyd Childress of Mammoth Cave, Kennith Childress (Nina) of Mammoth Cave, Elmo Childress (Vernice) of Mammoth Cave and Aleen James of Brownsville. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
