He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmer Stephens and Inez Stephens; his parents-in-law, Estill Mitts and Joyce Mitts; and his brother-in-law Frank Mitts.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Lou; his children, Brian Stephens (Angela) of Pensacola, FL, Troy Stephens of Dry Ridge, KY, Matthew Stephens (Christina) of Covington, KY, Joshua Stephens (Breeze) of Sasebo, Jacob Stephens (Brittany) of Knoxville, TN and Dena Wilson (Curt) of Warsaw, KY; his siblings, Gary Stephens (Janet) of Dry Ridge, KY, Ronnie Stephens of Covington, GA and Sharon Souder (Roger) of Crittenden, KY.; his grandchildren, Ian Stephens (Lindsey), Paige Wilson, Lane Wilson, Bailey Wilson (Madison), Jayden Durban, Aneesa Stephens, Jolee Stephens and Ethan Stephens; and his great grandchildren, Austin, Liam and Amelia Grace.
