Joseph Patrick Portman Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph Patrick Portman Sr. of Coxs Creek, Kentucky, who passed away on March 10, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Portman and Minnie Belle Snellen Portman; and his siblings, John Portman and Carolyn Howard. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Nally Portman; his children, Suzanne Farnsworth (Kevin) of Bardstown, Faye Brussell (Glenn) of Bardstown and Joseph Patrick "JP" Portman, Jr. of Cox's Creek; his sisters, Ann Pierce (Garry) of Owensboro and Bernadette Portman of Bardstown; his brother-in-law Bill Howard of Louisville; and his grandchildren, Laura Farnsworth, Richard Farnsworth, Jennifer Goble, Lizzy O'Daniel (Josh), Daniel Brussell (Lauren), Patrick Portman (Page) and Steven Portman (Kelsey). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home and Cremation Services (1475 New Shepherdsville Rd, Bardstown, KY 40004). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Gregrory Catholic Church (Hwy 509 & S. R. 245, Cox's Creek, KY 40013).
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the donors favorite charity.
