He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Lee Richerson of Grant County and William A. Leist of Covington. He is survived by: his wife Suzann Parker Leist; his aunt Gertrude W; his siblings, Arthur "Sonny" Friis (Kay) and Faith Friis Woodson (late Larry); his sons, Joseph Dion (Janet), Chad Michael (Anne), Scott Bradley and Cory Daniel; and his grandchildren, Gregg (Jay), Alexis, Jacob, Cory Jr. (Lia) and Jaden. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Kentucky Colonel in his beloved state, Joe would have appreciated memorial donations to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, 943 South First Street, Louisville, KY 40203.
