“I was stationed with Chief Jesse Walters at the Naval Hospital, Key West, Florida in 1966. He was, without question, one of the finest human beings I have ever met. He was honest, fair, funny and had a innate sense of who he was and what he was doing. My wife and I made a couple of trips on our way to Florida to see Chief and his wife Lucille and couple of pets. I guess, like all of us, we knew he was going to pass at some point but I just dreaded getting our Christmas card back from the post office indicating the letter was not deliverable. Apparently it was. My condolences and sympathy go out to the family and friends of Chief Walters. Rest in peace Jesse. You deserve it.”
