He was predeceased by: his parents, James Murrell and Mattie Beard Murrell; and his sister Martha Brockman. He is survived by: his wife Rita Rucker Murrell; his children, Valerie Adams (Dean) of Columbia, Richard Murrell (Garnetta) of Campbellsville and Randal Murrell (Jamie) of Columbia; his grandchildren, Daniel Adams (Ashley), Darren Adams (Lori), Devon Jett (Jimmy), Morgan Larkin (Clay), MaKenzie Murrell, Myles Murrell, Meredith Massengale (Jackson) and Madelyn Boyles (Andrew); and his great grandchildren, Mason Adams, Lilly Adams, Paisley Adams, Anderson Jett and Ethan Jett.
