He was predeceased by: his father Phillip Owen Carey; and his stepfather Jim Henry Smith. He is survived by: his mother Irene Duncan of Columbia; his wife Jenny Duncan of Liberty Three; his children, Avery Duncan (Tabitha) of Liberty, Noah Duncan of Liberty and Darby Duncan-Fuqua (Nick); his brother James D. Smith of Columbia Two; his grandsons, Owen Isaiah and Nicholas Fuqua; and his brothers, Ed Colon and Clint Maggard. He is also survived by Several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
