He was predeceased by: his parents, Zack Burton and Emma Susan Willis Burton; his wife Mildred Jean Coffey Burton; and his siblings, Tommy Burton, Ed Burton, Freddie Burton, Delmer Burton, Bobby Burton, Mamie Cowan, Dollie Burton, Faylene Herald and Hazel Curry.

He is survived by: his son Michael Burton of Alabama; his grandson Brody Walker Burton of Columbia; his daughter-in-law Shawna Burton of Columbia; his siblings, Phillip Burton of Florida, Harold Burton (Audrey) of Columbia, KY and Sue Burton of Kokomo, IN; and his close friends, Doug Janes (Monica) and Donnie Curry (Leoda). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
