He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Cooley and Rebecca Brockman Cooley; his siblings, William "Bill" Cooley, Guinn "Shorty" Cooley, Mary Cooley and Irene "Dean" Heitkamp; his brother-in-law Elmer Heitkamp; and his son-in-law Frank Kologinczak.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Annis Feese Cooley of Columbia; his daughters, Jean Corbin (Terry) of Columbia and Lois Kologinczak of Texas; his grandchildren, Cyndi Skains (Jerry), Mitch McKinley (Angie) of Texas and Jason Claywell (Rebecca) of Somerset; his great grandchildren, Sara, Hannah McKinley, Lauryn and Corwyn Skains; his siblings-in-law, Alton Feese (Hilda), Eva Cooley and Betty Cooley; and also, Anna Burton, Hosparus, Monica Pierce and Rosie Edwards.
