He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Sr. Burgess and Beulah Allen Burgess; his grandson Clayton Burgess; and his siblings, W. L. Burgess, Thomas Burgess, Kenneth Burgess, George Burgess, Keith Burgess, Terry Burgess and June Dunn.

He is survived by: his wife Martha Jo Cole Burgess of Clinton; his sons, Rick Burgess (Glenda) of Clinton and Tim Burgess (Lori) of Clinton; his grandchildren, Jarrod Burgess (Holly) of Clinton, Kayla Deweese (Deke) of Clinton, Tyler Burgess (Ashley) of Clinton, Josh Burgess (Ella) of Cunningham and Dylan Burgess (Breeanna) of Clinton; his great grandchildren, Brooklyn Burgess, Ralyn Burgess, Cooper Burgess, Carter Burgess, Eli Deweese, Carson Burgess and Parker Deweese; and his sisters, Keitha Voight of Denton, TX, Barbara Mabry of Knoxville, TN and Judy Lane of Columbus, KY..
