He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Buford and Leacy Pearl McClintock Harper (Billie Monette Neely); and his children, Debra Boyce, Kim Poffenberger and James Harper, Jr..
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Nicoma Black of Clinton, John King of Murray, Clayton Boyce of Tulsa, OK and Delaney Baker of Tulsa, OK; and his brother C. B. Harper of Bradenton, FL.. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
