He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Cline and Laura Nelson; and his brother Jimmy Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Joan Nelson; his children, Michelle Carlisle (Adam) and Scott Nelson of Clay; his grandchildren, Timothy Carlisle (Amy), Danielle Flener (Matt), Dalton Nelson (Morgan), Lilly Nelson and Landon Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Anna Carlisle, Rayleigh Flener, Abbie Flener, Elijah Carlisle, Addison Flener and Baby Nelson.
