He is survived by: his wife Betty Hall Townsend; his son Rodney Joe Townsend (Melanie) of Winchester; his siblings, James Townsend (Geneva) of Beattyville, Ronald Townsend (Karen) of Stanton, Alton Townsend (Pearl) of Stanton, Alvin Townsend (Libby) of Lee County, Gearld Dean South of Ohio, Callie Faught (Paul) of Stanton and Juanita Charles (Marvin) of Stanton; his grandchildren, Asia Townsend, Jozlynn Townsend, Jeremy Carson, Jason Carson and Jessica Collins; and his great grandchildren, Bryson Collins and Killian Conner.
