He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Powell and Sylvia Powell; and his siblings, Ernest, Lonnie, Marshall, Denzil, Delmus, Elmer of Everett, JR, Tersie Willoughby, Alba Wilhoit, Faye Goodwin, Marettia Briniger and Yavonne Stone.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Watson Powell; his children, Montford Powell Jr. (Vivian) of Clay City, Jesse Powell of Clay City and Sharon Lockard of Stanton; and his sister Geraldine Toney of Indiana. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
