He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary "Polly" Shanks and Ebb Sr. Shanks; his wife Ruby Shanks; and his sisters, Jesse Tatum, Sarah Jones and Dora Shanks.
He is survived by: his children, Bobby Shanks Jr. (Brenda), Paul Shanks (Deborah), Asa Shanks (Carolyn), Polly "Diana" Meador (Robert), Jacquelyn Young (Michael), Denise Meador (Robert) and Beverly Osborne (Raymond); and his brothers, Ebb Shanks Jr., Louis Shanks, Fred Shanks and James Shanks. He is also survived by 7 children, 28 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 2 great – great grandchildren.
