He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edna Mae Arvin Carnes and Charles "Chuck" Edward Carnes; his wife Carolyn Minton Carnes; his son Chris Carnes; his grandchildren, Brandon, Tailor, Johnathon, Seantay, Renee and Shawn; and his siblings, Harold, Mark, Dayle Chambers and Kim Wells. He was also cherished by seven great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren.
