It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Valerie Kay Nelson of Central City, Kentucky, born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, who passed away on May 11, 2023, at the age of 59, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her daughter Lucinda Lao; her parents, Theodore Whitla and Francis Whitla; and her brother Patrick Whitla. She is survived by: her husband Tony Nelson; her children, B. J. Lao (Hollie), Kim Nelson, Karl Nelson, Jr. (T. J.) and Tiffany McKaig (Josh); and her siblings, Linda Whitla, Bob Whitla (Sheila) and Tim Whitla (Becky). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren.
