He is survived by: his wife Beverly Slaughter Sumner; his children, Richard Sumner (Opal Gibson) of Central City, Charlotte Engler (Mike) of Greenville and Rhonda Engler (Kevin) of Beechmont; his siblings, Patricia Duarte (Ceaser) of Madisonville and Michael Eugene Sumner of Nelson Creek; his aunts, Ruth Morrow of Madisonville and Jean Heltsley of Bremen; and his grandchildren, Scarlett Sumner, Kelsey Engler, Misty Sumner, Richard Darnell Sumner, Jordan Engler Ray, Casey Engler and Gracie Engler. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
