She was predeceased by: her parents, Curt Yates and Gleenie Goodman Yates; her children, Clara Rex and Ronnie Dale Chappell; her stepson Bobby Chappell; her grandson Elijah McMillian; her great grandchild Jaylynn Clara Grimes; her child Junior Edward Chappell; and her siblings, Robert Yates, Durham Yates, Clarence Yates, Homer Yates, Marion Yates, Lois Goodman, Doris Lucas and Etta Hicks.

She is survived by: her children, Garnett Chap (Adeline) of Elizabeth, Curtis Chappell (Kim) of Elizabeth, Freda Griffin (Ronnie) of Cecilia, Wanda Edwards (Carl) of Cecilia, Pamela Gayle Graham (Herbie) of Elizabethtown and Gloria Mabe (James) of Glasgow; her son-in-law Owen Rexcoat of Indiana; her sister-in-law Ollie Yates; and also, Arthur Yates, Eddie Yates and Claudie Grimes of Indiana. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
