He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah F. Coomer Watkins; his parents, James M. Watkins and Rosie L Ballanger Watkins; and his daughters, Judy Fancher and Carolyn Martin.
He is survived by: his children, William Ernest Finn, Brenda Humphrey, Connie Hughes (Raymond) and Donna Harper (Tommy). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
