He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Childress and Linda Pierce Childress; and his siblings, Howard, Georgie, Wade Childress, Rosie Harrison, Pauline Sanders and Valaria Jeffries.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Kathleen Barbour Childress; his friend Ray Gossett; his daughters, Sherry Ward (Richard) of Chillicothe, Ohio and Denise Mahaney (Joe) of Bowling Green; his grandchildren, Brandon Childress (Carnessa), Jordan Mahaney, Ryan Mahaney, Ethan Mahaney, Susan Lieving (Brian) and Hudson Ward (Judy); his great grandchildren, Charlotte White (James), Nova Grey Mahaney, Laney, Lindsey Lieving, Hudson, Madison, Elison Ward, Dylan and Cameron Hawkins; his siblings, Aleen James, Leland, Floyd (Christine), Kenneth (Nina) and Elmo (Vernice Childress); his niece Anna Jill Schultz; and his pets, Millie Jane and Dixie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
