She was predeceased by: her husband Dan B. Shannon; her parents, Henry Amos and Nella Grace Robinette Gilkerson; and her brothers-in-law, Jim Lemons and Clark Gilbert.
She is survived by: her children, Danny R. Shannon (Debbie), Larry R. Shannon (Brenda) and Gloria J. Holmes (Philip); her siblings, Hazel Meenach (Kenneth), Pat Gilkerson (Sandy), Shelia Kay Lemons, Flora Leigh Gilbert and Gene Stephens; her sisters-in-law, Judy Adkins Gilkerson and Ellen Geiger Gilkerson; and her grandchildren, Heather Shannon Morrone (Trey), Jason Gregory Holmes, Apryl Rae Shannon, Ashlee Rand Hutchinson (Matt), Timothy Shannon Holmes (Jennie) and Jeremy Scott Shannon (Megan). She is also survived by great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
