It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bill George Opell of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, who passed away on March 28, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Waletta Rucker Opell; his daughter Armina Kim Opell; his son-in-law Randy Shelton; his siblings, James P. Opell Jr., Dewey Opell, Gearold Ray Opell, Dora Catherine Nunley and Laura Virginia Carroll; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Opell Loretta Land (Bill), Marcella Woods (Tom), Barbara Vamplew, Bob Nunley and Dewey Carroll.
He is survived by: his children, Bill George Opell Jr. (Earlene) of Catlettsburg, KY, Linda Opell Shelton of Catlettsburg, KY, James D. Opell of Catlettsburg, KY, Lola Opell Esenbock (Steve) of Catlettsburg, KY and Virginia Lynn Opell of Catlettsburg, KY. He is also survived by grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
