He was predeceased by: his wife Hazel Gaunce Schanding; his parent W. T. Army; his grandson Andy Schanding; and his siblings, Betty Howard, Paul, George, Clarence of Charles, E. T., Leroy, Eugene and Raymond Schanding.
He is survived by: his children, Elaine Broderick (Gary) and Bradley Schanding (Bonita) of Nicholas County; his grandchildren, Wes Broderick (Sarah), Colin Broderick (Lauren), David Schanding (Carla), Elizabeth Hughes (Trevor Fuller) and Kathy Jo Rorer (Shawn White); his siblings, Judy Blethen, Ann Chapman and Donald Schanding; and his sister-in-law Juanita Ritchie. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
