He was predeceased by: his father Gary Taulbee; his brother Larry Brian Taulbee; and his grandparents, Earnest Travis and Emma Belle Lawson. He is survived by: his mother Loretta Lawson Gilpin (Jeff) of Lexington, Kentucky; his wife Cindy Allen Lawson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; his sons, Stephen Travis Wayne Lawson, Jr. of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and Timothy William Lawson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Beau Travis Wayne Lawson and Desimous Mitchell; his siblings, Terry Taulbee of Frenchburg, Kentucky, Gary Thomas Taulbee of Frenchburg, Kentucky, Jessica Collins of Versailles, Marcia Taulbee of Wellington and Tina Hollon of Mize, Kentucky; and his niece Haley Gilpin.
