He was predeceased by: his parents, John Chester Akers and Bertha Childress Akers. He is survived by: his son John Henry Akers (Paula) of Campton, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Sarah Anne Bowers, Elizabeth Faye Ponting, Marcus Julian Akers and Michael Louis Akers; and his great grandchildren, Jaxson Himes, Madelynne Himes, Gabriel Himes, Mary Ponting and Nautilus Ponting.
