He was predeceased by: his parents, Rader Elam and Julie Pole Elam; his close friend Shirley Wood; his daughter Brenda Sue Elam; and his siblings, Mary McKuhen, Elaine McKuhen and Ben Elam.
He is survived by: his children, Reva King (Matthew) of Jackson, Jennifer Rowe of Morehead, Randy Elam (Mary) of Salyersville, Matthew Elam (Annette) of Georgetown and Joseph Elam (Tammy) of Midway; and his brother E. Taylor Elam of Salyersville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
