He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Harvey Smith and Myrtle Vaughn Smith; his wife Marilyn Smith; and his granddaughter Tatem Ashley Smith. He is survived by: his daughter Tammy; his son-in-law Eric Elder of Campbellsville; his great grandchildren, Channing Tungate and Rhylen Cochran of Campbellsville; and his siblings, Don Smith (Carolyn), John Smith and Joyce Scott (Wayne) of Campbellsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
