He was predeceased by: his parents, Ancil H. Spires and Martha Elizabeth Mings Spires; his wives, Betty Jean Morgan Spires and Gladys Reece Spires; his daughters, Gueta Burton and Kathy Sexton; his grandson Tyler Jessee; and his siblings, Junior B. Spires, Beatrice Phipps, William Spires, Robert Spires, Clifton Spires, Lillian Burton, Francis Hancock and Ivan Spires.
He is survived by: his children, Donnie Spires (Wanda) of Campbellsville, KY, Roger Spires of Columbia, KY, Judy Burton (Randall) of Columbia, KY and Ann Jessee of Bowling Green, KY; his sister Imogene Giles of Knifley, KY; and his sons-in-law, Phillip Burton of Glasgow, KY and Jimmy Sexton of Bowling Green, KY. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 17th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home (210 Greensburg St, Columbia, KY 42728). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
