He was predeceased by: his parents, James Porter Merritt and Helen Frazier Merritt; and his sister Barbara Fletcher. He is survived by: his wife Rosa Johnson Merritt; his children, Tony Merritt (Darlene) and Tina Everetts (Andy) of New Holland, OH; his sister Laverne "Fifi" Paul (Gary) of Kettering, OH; his granddaughters, Cortney, Tori and Tifani; and his great grandchildren, Madi, Alexander and Lainey.
