He was predeceased by: his parents, Author Frank and Vonnie Howell Monroe; his wife Tamara "Tammy" Bennett Monroe; and his siblings, Charlie Monroe and Barbara Monroe.

He is survived by: his son Christopher Monroe of Christian County; and his brothers, Jimmy Monroe of Hopkinsville, Wayne Monroe of Hopkinsville, Mike Monroe of Hopkinsville and Jerry Monroe of Hopkinsville. He is also survived by his five grandchildren and two great grandsons.
