He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Joseph Merritt, Sr. and Sandra Lee Garrison Merritt; and his sister Tracy Lynn Merritt. He is survived by: his sons, David Merritt of Cadiz and Michael Merritt of Oswego; and his siblings, Frederick Merritt of Oswego, Brenda Sprague (Michael) of Cadiz, Ruth Gardner (Gary, Jr.) of Cadiz and JoAnn Reed (Thomas) of Baldwinsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
