He was predeceased by: his parents, Veachil Ira Thompson and Lucille M. Higgason Thompson; his daughter Risë Carol Thompson; and his siblings, Iris Catherine Thompson, Freda Holt and Rex A. Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Spencer Thompson; his son John Mark Thompson (Ami); his grandchildren, Katherine Thompson, Rebecca Doles, Stephen Thompson, Whitney Conlon and Ashley Spencer; his great grandchild Alice Harper Hodges; his nieces, Jill Miller, Cathy Holt and Debbie Holt; and his nephew Kenny Holt.
