In loving memory of Janice Ruth Smith (Butler, Kentucky), born in Corbin, Kentucky, who departed this world on August 17, 2024 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Hood and Retha Sharp Hood; her husband Paul Smith; and her siblings, Patricia Harmon, Billie Mackey, Donald Hood and Hubert "Ronnie" Hood.
She is survived by: her children, Paula Thornton (Donnie) and Keith Smith (Jana); her grandchildren, Natasha Rice (Justin), Tabatha Biddle (Eric), Kristen Kaliin (Nick) and Jonah Smith (Alysia); and her great grandchildren, Ashleigh Wright (Jason), Allison Rice, Shelby Teehee (Tyler), Rylan Rhoton, Kayda Rhoton, Caleb Biddle, Micah Biddle, Elias Biddle, Marlee Kaliin, Rylen Kaliin and Rori Kaliin.
Many years ago Janice made the decision to have her body donated to UC Hospital for medical research in hopes of furthering the understanding and knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's. Janice's final resting place will be at Peach Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church WMU at 5793 KY HWY 154, Butler, KY 41006.
