He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Leonhard and Mary Margaret Leonhard (Dorger); and his brother Philip M. Leonhard. He is survived by: his children, Jason Leonhard (Laurie) and Carrie Milner (Mike); his grandchildren, Paris Milner, Michael and Brantley Paul Milner; his stepgranddaughter Annalise Pretot; his siblings, Mary Ran, David Leonhard (Sally Lane), Margaret Leonhard, Cathy Gellert (Dan) and Linda Chaney (Kevin); and his stepsons, Chris Pretot and Elisha Pretot.
