She was predeceased by: her parents, McDaniel Purcell and Dorothy Purcell; her former husband James D. Atkinson Jr.; her son James Halbert Atkinson; and her sister Elizabeth Prejean.

She is survived by: her daughter Juliet Phelps (Terry); her grandson James Phelps; her niece Margaret Prejean; and her nephews, Tom and Charles Prejean.
