He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie P. Denny and Joetta Lane Denny; his wife Mallie Burkhart Denny; his sisters, Shirley Sornson of North Carolina and Betsy Tipton of Stanford, KY; and his stepgrandson Anthony Woodard.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Denny Mobley, Tony Allen Denny and Jimmie Gordon Denny, Jr. (Christy); and his siblings, Judy Jeffries (Pete), Elizabeth "Coonie" Smith (Gerald), Loretta Edwards (Robert), Louis Denny (Judy), Joe Denny (Joan) and Russell "PeeWee" (Annie). He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
