He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Herdt and Ester Goldsmith Herdt; and his siblings, Charles, Danny, Russell, Donald Herdt and Shirley Herdt.
He is survived by: his daughter April VanMeter of Vine Grove; his stepchildren, Theresa White of Buffalo, Pamela Sadler of Elizabethtown and Wayne White (Jeanell) of Elizabethtown; his sister Eileen Rogers of Indiana; his grandchildren, Misty Williams and T. J. Williams (Kimberly); and his nephew Wesley Priddy. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
