He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Dempsey Cardwell and Helen Smith Thornburg; his son Jeffrey James Rogers; and his sister Katherine Thomas. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Sullivan Cardwell; his children, Steven Cardwell of Bowling Green and Alisha Key (Ray) of Wingfield; his grandchildren, Tiffany Vincent (Justin), Brittany Smith (Justin), Matthew Key, Alexis Cardwell and Dylen Cardwell; his great grandchildren, Addi Vincent, Emma Vincent and Whitleigh Harper; his siblings, James Cardwell, Carl Cardwell, Jr., Bill Thornburg, Jr., Randy Cardwell and Teresa Vanover; and his nephew Freddie Jarrell. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
