He was predeceased by: his father James W. Simmons; and his siblings, Charlie, Raymond, Guy "Tootle" of Roy, J. C., Ernest Simmons and Delphia Buchanan.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Elmore Simmons; his daughters, Carol Sue Copas (Tony) of Austin, KY and Julie Anne Stewart (Jimmy) of Bowling Green; his grandchildren, Kayla Simmons and Cody Briar Copas; his great grandchildren, Charlotte Simmons and Nova Simmons; and his brothers, James Simmons (Jean) of Chalybeate and Bennie "Buck" Simmons of Wingfield.
