He was predeceased by: his father Herman Lail; his daughter Bernice Willis; his daughter-in-law Kimberly Hinton Lail; and his siblings, George Lail, Bill Lail, Carter Lail, Herman Lang, Elizabeth Lang, Wilamarina "Marie" McMillan, Lora Hawkins and Edith Artis.
He is survived by: his wife Mae Commodore Lail; and his children, Jeannette Bean of Cincinnati, OH, Mildred Henry of Cincinnati, OH, Melvin "Skip" Lail, Jr. of Brooksville, KY, Tonyia and Toyia Lail of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
