She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles E. Brown and Matilda Rice Brown; her son Howard M. Cooley, Jr.; and her sisters, Bertha Lewis and Cinderella "Cindy" Barrett.

She is survived by: her daughter Kathy Teegarden (Brian) of Falmouth, KY; her daughter-in-law Chong; and her brother Adrian E. Brown of Cherokee, NC.. She is also survived by five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
